Frederick
T. Bear, the adventure bear, is an innovative approach
to teaching children (and adults) the geography of the
world. Through the adventures and discoveries of the bear,
as relayed in his journal,
e-mails, photographs and video
coverage, children can learn about the cultures and traditions
of the countries which he visits.
 
This
project was initiated by Mary Curtin,
teacher in Cloghroe National School,
Cloghroe, Co. Cork. His adventure diaries
are written by Pat Falvey and Clare O'
Leary. Freddy's Everest expedition from
Spring
2003 is available
in book shops nationwide.
