Winter Mountaineering Skills and Climbing
in the Scottish Mountains
Winter
Skills or Mountaineering week in Scotland is an instructional
training week on winter skills and techniques in one of
the most beautiful places in the world. You’ll be
walking and climbing in spectacular surroundings amongst
some of the most famous and picturesque mountains in Scotland.
Course content
Winter skills training on ropework, belay techniques, moving
in crampons, working with ice axes and self arrest techniques.
Using theses new skills on climbs, Gullies and a Ridge walk.
Trekking and Expedition training
For those who intend planning a trek or expedition to the
higher ranges this is an ideal opportunity to get fit and
learn the skills that are required on trekking snow and ice
mountains as well as assessing your fitness level for such
an undertaking.
Outline objective
Unlike the large and institutional mountaineering schools,
We operate on a small and informal basic, this allows a personal
service and the opportunity for you to get the most from
your Scottish trip. The aim for the week would be for you
to enjoy a combination of technical training days with gully,
ridge and climbing days. We would aim to complete the week
with a climb on Ben Nevis. ( weather dependant)
Accommodation
We stay at the beautiful Nevi Bank Hotel. After long hard
days on the hill you will appreciate the comfort the Hotel
offers. Accommodation is full board which includes a full
breakfast in the morning, a packed lunch for on
the hills
and a 3 course evening meal. This allows your time to be
spent more efficiently on and off the hill.
